Oh god...
What have I got myself into? *is insanely sleep deprived* *rests head on hands in effort to control headache* I'll tell you. Last night has been a lesson. A lesson in why I don't want to own any animals anymore. Yes, they're cute. Yes, they can sometimes be great companions--*hears cat whining from all the way back in the closed bedroom* But I just don't have the patience. So glad I am discovering this lack of patience now. I could never have children...Well, here's the story (of a man named Brady--sorry couldn't help it).
The cat that I now own (like it or no) is an adorable all black male that is about 3 months old. Looking at him with a plate of sound-proof glass in between you and him is the only way one could mistake this cat for an ideal pet. He farts. A lot. I woke up no less than 7 times last night (and I went to bed at 1am) because the smell that his digestive tract produced was so noxious. I myself have an upset stomach now. For any idea of the smell, think the worst case of diahrea you've ever had and that might be about a third of this cat's gas. So his smell is the thing that makes me ill.
This cat cannot sleep (I swear) for more than 15 minutes at a time before waking up with a startled meow. Wherefore, it meows in my ear, requires petting and then he will lay down, purr like a harley (yes--in my ear) for a few minutes before drifting off for a whole sleep cycle (15 minutes). I have gotten sleep, at best for 15 minutes at a time for 4 1/2 hours. He also likes to have his paw in my ear while he sleeps. It must give him some mystical only-a-cat-knows connection to me. I suppose this is better than the original position he wanted, which was on top of my head, ass by my nose. (I guess life is full of compromises, ne?)
When I leave the room, he meows until it is clear that I am not coming back. *is getting rather annoyed, even in sleep deprived state* And then there is the whole having to arrange the meeting of the two pets. I hope at least this will go ok, so I can perhaps shut the cat out of the room at night, though I imagine that he would probably just meow at the closed door (much like Yuki used to whine) until I got up and let him in.
So yeah. The cat's name was Nemo, from "Finding Nemo" I'm sure. (My mother named him.) But Nailz and I saw him and knew he was NOT a Nemo (cute as that name is). I was planning on Wufei, but then he has these eyes that look more like a snake's than a cats, so we decided on Orochimaru (the bad guy from Naruto). Which works in the way that he is ultimately evil, indestructible and refuses to learn to use his powers for good; but also doesn't fit, because I think the Naruto character was a whole lot smarter than this cat and I just can't picture Orochimaru (the character) wanting to snuggle ALL the time (even villains have to snuggle every once in a while).
SO--enough about Orochimaru. I had an interesting day yesterday, and today will probably be even more interesting. Here's what my schedule looks like (this is, of course, after I get some sleep on the couch):
1030: Physical Therapy appt.
1145: Second-round interview (scheduled for 2 1/2 to 3 hours and therefore missing Nailz's office going away party *is sad*)
1500ish: Job Fair - taking two copies of two different resumes, one for publishing and one for general clerical jobs
1900: Pampered Chef party - 30 minute drive to keep deployment friend happy, must say no to buying cook wear but not to catalogue.
2100: Hope to god I'm home by now.
I'm too tired to write about anything else yesterday, so maybe I can ask Nailz to fill in the blanks for everyone? If not, I guess there is always tonight to blog. *nods off*
