I'm not part of a redneck agenda.

It seems to be going around. The nasty taste left in the mouths of those who voted for Kerry. Those who honestly believed in Kerry--such as me. I voted yesterday for Kerry--and I am glad that my vote counted towards his electoral college votes, as Minnesota turned out to be one of the only "midwest" states that went to Kerry (go liberal, wonderful (add list of inspiring adjectives here) Minnesota!).

Last night I had a nightmare that Bush had been re-elected. When I woke, I knew somehow that my spirit would soon be confirmed to be broken. I learned that Kerry hadn't conceded yet and was still glad for his sense of principle. But when he conceded, I lost it. Nailz came home to me sitting glumly in front of my computer sobbing over Kerry's loss. I also was shocked at Daschle being voted out. It was definitely the straw that broke my back. I love Daschle. And I loved South Dakota for loving Daschle. Now I have lost even more faith in my home state. I must ask if the U.S. is going down into a burning ring of extremist, right-wing, psychopathically religious conservativism (or is a burning cross through the eye holes of a white mask more appropriate?).

Lucky for my friends and family, there is no Drano with which I could have ended my global citizenship. Perhaps I will move to New Zealand--who's with me?!

Of course, as much as I would like to abandon my country for the majority's horrific and blind choice--I cannot. I will stay with this country because, despite my misgivings, there were an awful lot of people who didn't support Bush. This gives me hope. For example, when I went out to lunch today, I wore my "Teamsters for Kerry/Edwards" shirt (a gift from the union I am no longer in) with the "I voted." sticker on it. A woman, wearing a Kerry/Edwards button thanked me for wearing my shirt and said, "we've got to stick together." Amen to that. There were also many people still proudly wearing their election buttons in support of Kerry.

I foresee that this election will cause an even more bitter of a rift between opposing political parties. It will also make politics even more of a taboo subject--even among friends. *heavy sigh* To relieve some tension--try Green Day's "American Idiot" song where my title quote came from. Or watch the video on Yahoo. Rockin' song.

In other news...I bought a NES. An original Nintendo Entertainment System (for those of you who wouldn't know (yeah, like who?)). It came with 5 games and the two controllers and gun for duck hunt. I am excited. Next I have to seek out the game that started it all--The Legend of Zelda. I have decided to start out at the beginning and work my way through all the games of import over the last 10 years. Mwahahahahaaaa! After that I will promptly buy a skateboard, get my eyebrow pierced and become a bad-ass 5k8r c|-|1x0r.
