where have all the husbands gone? gone for soldiers--every one. where have all the soldiers gone? gone to graveyards--every one. oh when will they ever learn? So today was a roller-coaster ride. I woke up feeling pretty good around 1pm. Nailz and I went out last night until about 3am, so I got some good sleep. Also, it was the first time in about 3 or 4 days that I slept continuously through the night. I have been setting my alarm to get up after naps to do school work and then continuously hitting snooze until daybreak (every 9 minutes). Ah...felt good.
So I was in a fairly good mood. Nailz and I went to lunch (I had a margarita to accompany my meal) and then grocery shopping. We watched the remaining 3 episodes of Sukisyo. It was a good day. Until I called my parents to see what's up.
Turns out my dad has over a 70% chance of being sent to Afghanistan for a year starting this fall. My dad has well over 20 years in the reserves, and was initially drafted in 1969 for Vietnam. I feel like screaming. The man is nearly 60 and has already served his country faithfully for many years. He's an elementary school teacher and his students love him. He is the best father, husband, teacher and friend to everyone he knows. He will be riding around on donkeys in Afghanistan for a year. I just...I'm so angry. He on the other hand is very accepting. He said that he signed that line and he'll follow it through to the end--tells me not to be too worried because nothing's final yet... Maybe I'm just daddy's little girl, but I wish I could protect him somehow from any harm that might befall him. And maybe I'm just being selfish. I'm sorry...=(
Normally, I would go into a political rant about now, but I think I'll hold it. I'm sure it's obvious by now that I'm a liberal (albeit a bit conservative in some very small ways), so I'm sure you can surmise what the general rant would be concerning.
On a last note, here are some links:
I don't have to worry about this, but at least the federal government has come up with a decent
website.
And even though I never actually played D&D or AD&D, my brother did--and this is
too funny.
I wouldn't mind
dating a short guy, seeing as I'm short too. =)
