things that go buzz in the nightAt the moment, I am holding in a really, really terrified shriek. I just encountered
this.
I was in the bathroom doing some late night anxiety cleaning, (I just fully realized that I have little over a week before my long "voyage" begins...), when I heard a sound coming from the direction of the balcony door. I had left the glass door open to allow for a breeze and my cat was sitting in front of the screen door looking very attentive and making little mewing noises. I looked from a distance and didn't see that anyone was outside (that I could tell), so I went over to see what the fuss was about. That's when I saw it....I almost couldn't contain the scream. It was absolutely huge! I shut the glass door as quickly as I could and then did some research. Other than the cockroaches I had "met" down south, this was the biggest bug I have ever seen!
I guess it makes sense that I saw one of these because there is a stagnant pond that is next to our apartment building. The fact that this ... thing probably eats mosquitos (a great service in its own right) is the only thing that saved it from being somehow exterminated....Ok well, that, and I would be too terrified anyway to kill it without screeching the entire time and it
is late. The fact that it flies makes it much, much worse...
So that's it. I feel a bit better. Blogging about it doesn't feel nearly as good as screaming would have....
