even if it's a lie, say it will be alright and i shall believe*

Today were the layoffs. Only one person from our office (of 20 employees) was laid off. I still have a job to go to tomorrow. It is such a strange feeling to be so relieved for yourself, yet feel terrible for your coworker. When I think about it, I get a hard lump in my throat. I knew I was stressed out about the impending layoffs, but now I realize just how VERY stressed out I was. I felt like crying from the relief of it. And I feel like today is the first time I've really smiled since the first announcement over 2 weeks ago.

It's not that there will be no danger of more layoffs, but for now I am really, truly and completely thankful to still have a job.
