we spread out and occupy the cracks in the urban streets*

Mah. Busybusybusy! I totally want to write a long blog, but at the same time don't because it is almost 11pm already! And I have elementary school tomorrow (which always requires more energy), so I should be going to bed right now. I haven't even brushed my teeth yet or signed out of my various messengers....

Well, I'll write for a bit. What the heck.

This morning, as I was driving (early) to one of the JHS that I teach at, I saw a cloud taking the difficult way over a mountain. This particular mountain has a sheer face on it, so the cloud could have gone past the mountain at a lower altitude, but instead, it was going up and over and then coming back down low. I could see it moving. It was like watching a large, white, fluffy caterpillar climbing over a rock when it could have gone around.

I know that is probably an odd thing to blog about.

I had so much that I thought of during the day. All gone now. *sigh* Well, a bit of a re-cap of the day never hurts.

I was busy again in the office today. I came back from teaching after lunch, so I had the afternoon in the office. Prepared for tomorrow's lessons and studied Japanese. I buzzed out of the office almost exactly on time and came home. Found a letter from my mom in the post slot. Sat down in front of the kerosene heater and read it. Then I stared into the heater's flames for a while. I don't think I thought of anything. Just stared. It was nice. A boom of thunder brought me back to the present. Today we've been having rainstorms. It gets really windy and then we get some thunder and lightning and then it rains really hard for a bit. We even got some pea-sized hail. I'll have to admit that I am pretty satisfied with the number of rain/thunderstorms we've gotten this year. Last year we hardly got any!

Anywho. Heated up some left overs, but just ended up eating the mashed potatoes bit. Then went off to do some errands and shopping before the shops all closed. I got some accessories for the Arashi concert outfit: a belt for the dress and a necklace. There were so many cute belts! I ended up buying three of them. It only came out to $25 for three, so that's not bad....

I attempted to get my dry cleaning, but the place closed their shutters just as I was pulling up. :( So I guess that will have to wait until next week. I'm not going to make any more trips over to the big town this week.

I went to the grocery store next. The grocery store in my town closes at 6pm, but the one in the big town closes at 9pm, so stopped and got the veggies I want for stew: eggplant, broccoli, carrots and onions. I have some butternut squash that I'll use as well. Yum! Looking forward to that tomorrow night!

On the way out of town I got gas at the self-service pump. Last week I used one for the first time. It was a really frustrating experience and it took me 20 minutes, but now that I know how to use the pump, it is magical! I even save 9yen a liter! That's like saving 50cents a gallon (after current currency rates are applied and liter to gallon conversion). That's a big savings!

Came home and stayed true to my plan to do sit ups and push ups tonight. I didn't do as many as I probably should have, but meh. Some is better than none, right? Right. Then I took a shower and was so hungry that I had to eat something. :/ I kept it to a diet granola bar and a sip of 1.5% milk.

I'm not trying to lose too much weight, but I want to shed a couple of pounds so that I'm no longer in danger of not being able to wear pants to work. I like my pants and I want to continue to fit into them.

So yeah. That's that.

Lastly, looking at pictures of Japanese guys with long sideburns makes me realize that I don't like long sideburns. Yuck.
