i can't help myself

June 22, 2013 (土)
Q: What's the last movie you saw in a theater?
A: The Avengers? I think. Or possibly Rurouni Kenshin.

June 23, 2013 (日)
Q: When was the last time you cried?
A: Thursday night. I watched a sad short film on YouTube. I almost cried today after I got a big speeding ticket, though...

June 24, 2013 (月)
Q: What's your next social engagement?
A: This weekend - I'll go to Lake Toya for an ALT "meeting". Camping, hiking, bird watching/stalking, hopefully selling a ton of stuff.... Also, getting to see friends I don't see very often! :)

June 25, 2013 (火)
Q: Who is your closest companion?
A: I don't think I have any unless you count the numerous spiders in my house who I greet and talk to when I see them. *has lived along too long*

June 26, 2013 (水)
Q: What's your biggest indulgence?
A: Peanut butter. Does that count? Not only is it high in fat, it is also rather pricey.

June 27, 2013 (木)
Q: When was the last time you ate pizza? What kind?
A: Hoo boy. It's been a long time. *thinks back* I think maybe some time in March. 500yen pizza shop in Hakodate. Super-cheap, super-fast & covered in cheese.

June 28, 2013 (金)
Q: If your mood were a weather forecast, you'd be _______.
A: Windy. Just like the weather lately. In a big hurry and not sitting still or resting for long.

June 29, 2013 (土)
Q: What are the top songs on your "recently played" list?
A: Urk. Whatever was playing on my mp3 player? I didn't answer this on the day because I was busy camping.

June 30, 2013 (日)
Q: What can you live without right now?
A: A lot, apparently. I've been really good at dumping my possessions, but metaphorically - I could live without stress about now.

July 1, 2013 (月)
Q: Water, ice, or steam?
A: Steam. Oh yeah....

July 2, 2013 (火)
Q: Today you cancelled _________.
A: I didn't cancel anything, but I did set a move-out date for my storage unit in Minnesota.  \m/

Random Ramble:
Lately I have realized a few things.

1) That after having stayed in one place for four years, I have A LOT OF STUFF. Holy moly - a lot of stuff. And I hate going through it and packing it up and throwing stuff out or trying to sell it. This leads me to think that either I a) should be more careful about how much stuff I accumulate or b) (the more likely route) shouldn't stay in one place so long.

2) I feel more like a successful human when I don't have to have long conversations with people in my native tongue. Whenever I get around a group of people who speak English natively, I end up feeling kind of like a social derp. I used to have the gift of gab - no more, I guess.

3) There are levels of respect for other people's things and those levels are reflected in the language you use to describe them.
"your things" = polite and most respectful
"your stuff" = friendly, casual, some respect
"your shit" = rude, no respect
This comes up because I have had two different friends refer to my possessions as "my shit". Um....I don't think I have ever called anyone's possessions "your shit" before. Also, one of these friends called my car "garbage". She is car-less and was getting a ride to a town an hour away (and I have to drive over an hour out of my way to pick her up) to do something that she needed to do. I find all of these instances to be incredibly insulting. I was so taken aback those times I didn't say anything, but the next time someone uses rude language to talk about my things, I think I am going to respectfully correct them and tell them how rude and disrespectful they are being.

So that's what has been rolling around the noggin. Was kind of worried I would forget what I wanted to write about, so I'm happy I remembered.  :)
