Random Ramble:
I've been pretty good lately. I haven't had very many outright happy days, but I haven't really had any outright bad days either. This is unusual for me, but I don't mind. I think it might be the season changing - it makes me tired, which mellows out any mood swings I might normally have. That makes it sound like I have huge mood swings - which I don't, but I have even less fluctuation than usual.
I recently started using Lumosity. Have you heard of it? Seems like the ads for it are everywhere. Well, I've been curious about it for a long time. Alzheimer's and other brain degradation diseases run in my family, so I'm willing to do pretty much anything to try to keep my brain active. Lumosity is "free to try", but really, if you want to do all the tracking of your scores and have a personalized "brain workout", you have to pay a subscription fee. It's only about $2/month, so I decided what the hay. So far, it's challenging.
There are couple of "games" in particular that I have a hard time with. One is the floating word bubble. This game is where you are given the beginning two or three letters and then you have to enter as many words that you can think of that start with those letters. For example, if it gives you "pla" you have to type as many words as you can think of such as "place", "plague", "plaque", "play" and so on.
The second game is a memory game (yeah, go figure, I have very poor memory) where you have to click on items that appear without clicking on the same one twice. For example, the first screen is just two items - you click one and then the screen refreshes with 3 items. One of them is the one you have already clicked on, so you have to click on one of the items you haven't clicked yet. This goes on, each time there are more items on the screen. It's very hard for me to remember what I've clicked on even just a few seconds prior.
Anyway. I like the exercises and it only takes about 5-7 minutes a day. Hopefully, this small amount of time and concentration invested now will have some kind of good effect someday.
