So this is going to be a quiz-heavy post. I will probably post these to LJ at some point as well, but am at "home" in SoDak so will do all that when I get to my home in a couple of weeks. *confused*
Your result for The Best Thing About You Test...
Discipline
Discipline is your greatest virtue.

Discipline is the act of enduring that which you don't dig ("the shit"), even though you could be doing something else more fun, because the shit is better for you in the long run. And you? You are remarkable. You can endure a lot of the shit, sometimes self-imposed. All 7 virtues are a part of you, but your discipline runs deepest.
Discipline is the key to success. In the picture above, the climber is finally having fun and unwinding, after a life of preparation.
Disciplined famous people: Ghandi, Jesus, Hitler
Your raw relative scores follow. 0% is low, and 100% is perfect, nearly impossible. Note that I pitted the virtues against each other, so in some way these are relative scores. It's impossible to score high on all of them, and a low score on one is just relatively low compared to the other virtues.
YOUR VIRTUES
10% Compassion
44% Intelligence
63% Humility
44% Honesty
88% Discipline
29% Courage
17% Passion

I'm so glad that they mentioned that Hitler was someone of great discipline. What are they trying to say about my strongest personal attribute? Um....ok then...
Your result for The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test...
Pure Nerd
78 % Nerd, 39% Geek, 39% Dork

For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of:
Pure Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
Congratulations!
Thanks Again! --

i am my mother on the wall, with us allAh~ So it seems that I am blogging more often lately. Maybe it is just my imagination. I sure have been going to town on LiveJournal though! Seems like I am constantly querying the Friends List for advice on how to help me do some really thorough spring cleaning.
This week is going by super fast. I have only gotten in my car to go somewhere once this week and that was this morning to run to the gas station for cigarettes. Otherwise, I have been hanging around the apartment and not going out. I am really limiting my travel because of gas prices. I am making an errand list, so that when I actually do get around to leaving the apartment I will have a route planned out and everything ready to go.
Just from going through my room alone, I have 4 bags of clothes and a big box of old craft and sewing stuff to donate to Goodwill and a children's theater downtown respectively. AND - I'm still not done! Today, I took a break from going through my room and instead cleaned out the bathroom. I threw away a grocery bag full of bathroom items (old lotions, sprays, make up, expired medicines, etc.) and then scrubbed everything (except the tub) to be spotless.
Tomorrow, I will return to my room. I have a big Tupperware bin full of old letters and cards that I've kept over the years. This is where I get stumped. What should I do with all of that stuff? Do you guys have any ideas? Affreca suggested scanning the letters so I have a digital copy and then getting rid of the real things. This is sounding like a good plan to me, but I don't think I would want to scan them all (they are probably not all worth it and there are A LOT of them) and so this would require me to go through them all and decide which ones were worth keeping. When I think of doing that I feel like throwing my hands up and just throwing them all in a big burn barrel and striking a match. Ultimately, I will have to make a decision - which I don't really want to make. I am also going to do another pruning of my book collection. My goal is to have all my books fit into the one 3-shelved bookcase I have; currently, I have 3 extra boxes of books. :(
I also have only been eating one small meal a day. I am completely lacking in desire to eat lately. No time, it seems, even though I don't go out, so it's not like I don't have access to all the food in the pantry...
Well, I've completely babbled. *blushes* I apologize for any boredom fits this blog might have inspired. XD Ciao for now!

You are poised, confident, and clear-thinking when stressed, however you are not generally self conscious about yourself. You get overwhelmed by too much noise and commotion and do not like thrill-seeking activities. You tend not to express your emotions openly and are sometimes not even aware of your own feelings. You do not enjoy confrontation, but you will stand up for yourself or push your point if you feel it is important, however you do not particularly like helping other people. Requests for help feel like an imposition on your time. You take your time when making decisions and will deliberate on all the possible consequences and alternatives.

Sorry there is nothing real to post about. I am getting ready to move, even though the move won't be for about a month and a half. Still, getting strangely depressed packing up. My room is starting to look so bare...

i come to you in restless sleep where all your dreams turn bittersweetSo I am not quite highly-caffeinated, so I decided to not make this another episode of "Highly-Caffeinated Clare". I'm not quite rambly and incoherent enough for one of those...
So the suitcase I ordered for the trip to Japan finally came in the mail yesterday. The final preparatory stage can now begin. I will begin packing tomorrow - my day off. I know that the trip is still over a week away, but with the little amount of time that I get off, I don't want to leave it for the last minute. Plus, this way I can remember the little things that I haven't yet packed and still have time to add them in. Next weekend is bound to be full of all the last minute things (including waxing my eyebrows and other beauty regimens).
I've had a fairly busy social week. I hung out with some of the local crowd two nights in a row and was out late both nights - so I was very tired for a good 2 or 3 days this week. I did get to eat some of the local cuisine and it was very good, so that was a nice break from the normal food routine.
Because of the tendency towards being a social butterfly, I have neglected my study of Japanese. *shamed* Tomorrow, I intend to remedy this situation by trying to complete 3 lessons. Doing 3 lessons in one day will still not catch me up to where I should have been by now, but what can you do?
Not much else to say except that I have been having really strange dreams for the past week and I always wake up thinking, "what the hell?" but by the time I'm done getting ready for work, all memory of them is already gone.
Hope all are well! Now, I'm off to peruse everyone's blogs...
Oh - and here's a quiz. No fancy picture, but still kind of interesting:
My
Bloginality is
ISTJ!!! The ISTJ results are listed as you scroll down the page on the left-hand side.
Also this quiz - which was delightfully fun to take as some of the answers to choose from are pretty hilarious:
Anna of Cleves got the royal shaft. She came all the way to England to become the fourth wife of Henry VIII. Once married to Anna, he refused to consummate the marriage, and called her the "Flanders Mare". Talk about a burn, considering that by this time, Henry was the fattest man in England and had a rotting syphilis sore on his leg.
Anna was miffed, but she was too sensible to let it ruin her fun. She was given an annulment and a fat yearly allowance, and she threw extravagant parties and dined on delicacies for the rest of her life.

Which of Henry VIII's wives are you?

give it up and let me have my wayI promised Doom I would post my seme/uke quiz results. This is the first one I got. I guess it is fairly accurate....

Clueless Uke
Take Are you a Seme or an Uke? today!Created with Rum and Monkey's Personality Test Generator. You really have no clue, do you? You're satisfied just to have someone to eat hamburgers and play video games with, and are completely oblivious to other's manipulative behavior. You don't expect much, and that's good, because you're perfect prey for the Opportunist Seme, who will take advantage of you, and you probably won't even notice. But you'll be happy anyway, because ignorance is bliss.
...though I like my second result better!

Chibi Seme
Take Are you a Seme or an Uke? today!Created with Rum and Monkey's Personality Test Generator. You are the seme in disguise. Able to fit in and get along with uke and seme alike, you are able to get close to the uke on their level before exerting your dominance. This makes you at times manipulative and able to fool others about your true seme nature. Because of your harmless appearance, it takes the flamboyantly gay Flaming Uke to really bring out your aggressive side and expose you for the seme that you are.
I think a combination of the two would probably be more accurate. So yeah. That's my quiz for the year. *wipes brow* It's hard work. *grin*
So I was going to do the 6 weird things meme that Doom tagged me for, but I haven't come up with 6 things yet. I'm stuck at 3. I guess I'm just not as weird as them. *pokes fun*
I do have a few new links to post though! They are actually from today. I am impressed with myself.
They've found a
series of small walls....near Stonehenge no less!! (What is a 'henge' anyway?)
Well, I can't seem to find the second thing I bookmarked. It is no doubt buried in my massive bookmark files and folders. *sigh* So here's a couple of really old ones. Enjoy!
